Step by Step Guide to Free, Targeted Web Traffic for your Website or Blog
76A Simple Plan to Generate Free Targeted Traffic
If you run an internet business, free targeted web traffic is a boon to your business. Once you complete the initial work, you will continue to make sales automatically. Your existing traffic generation systems will work on autopilot. And by getting targeted traffic, you will get more sales with less work.
How do you Get Free and Targeted Traffic?
Step 1: Know your Market
Before you can get targeted traffic, you need to know what your target is. And the better you know your market, the better you can focus your efforts on finding the exact customer you're looking for.
If you have already have a well-developed business, you probably already know your customer avatar. But if you are starting out, your first step is research.
For example, a kayak store must know their clients. Do they sell to 19 year old males who want to kayak in the Colorado rapids, or to the family of 4, who want to load their kayaks with picnic food and mosey down a sleepy river.
Questions to think about:
- What is the sex, age, and socio-economic level of your target market?
- What are the likes and dislikes of your target market? The kayak store owner will need to know if her clients want back support or sleek designs for speed.
- What is your target market looking for? What need must be fulfilled?
- What motivates their buying? Price? Design? Service?
- Where does your target market like to hang out? The younger generations visit different websites than the older? Do you have a Facebook crowd or a youtube crowd?
How do you find this out? Follow the tracks of your target market.
Google kayaks and go to kayak stores and see who they market too. Go to kayak forums and find out what people are talking about. Hang out in the kayak department of your local store. Read kayaking magazines.
Get to know your target market.
Step 2: What is your Most Wanted Response from your Free, Targeted Traffic?
Decide what you want your visitor to do. Do you want them to sign up for your newsletter? Do you have an ebook for them to download? Do you want them to go to your sales page?
When you decide what your most wanted response is, make the appropriate page for that response. Design your newsletter sign-up form. Build your landing page. You must have something for your visitor to do!
Be sure that your Most Wanted Response is obvious and prominent. If a visitor must hunt around to find your newsletter page, they will leave. If your sign up box is so small that they can scan over it, they won't see it.
Make it clear what you want all your free traffic to do.
Step 3: Create Your Content in Content Sharing Sites
Youtube, Ezines, Hub Pages, Squidoo...
All these sites give you the platform for building content.
Build content which answers the needs of your target market. Answer their questions. Put them at ease. If your 40 year old kayakers ache after a day kayaking with the kids, give them tips to relieve their back from kayaking. If the 20 year old kayaker wants to go faster than his friends down the rapids, teach him how to spot the fastest spot in the river and to glide through it.
And build your content to also please the search engine spiders. Choose good keywords and have them placed well. Follow good practices for search engine optimizations. You must always please the spiders as well as the humans.
Build many pieces on content on multiple sites.
Step 4: Start Linking!
Start by linking your new content to the page with your Most Wanted Response.
Eventually, begin to link your content to each other. You want to create a web of links so that people can enter your web from many directions and be pointed toward your website or blog.
Pick good anchor words for your links. Follow good linking practices--Squidoo limits the links going to the same domain to nine maximum. Other content sites will have different guidelines.
The point is that you are creating a web of links, but not a tangled knot. Link well but don't overdo it.
Step 5: Watch your Free, Targeted Web Traffic Build
These steps are both easy and hard.
All of this is doable for people even new to the internet.
But doing it properly and effectively takes training.
Find a good mentor to help you learn how to build your traffic efficiently and quickly.
